J.Crew Pops Up in London

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa (in this post) who let us know that J.Crew opened a pop-up store in London.

For its first foray in the city J.Crew is setting up a temporary shop in the Western Transit Shed in King's Cross, London.
May 24, 2013

The preppy US retailer has opened a summer pop-up store in London and teamed up with the city's famous fashion school, Central Saint Martins, for a series of projects.

For its first foray in the city J.Crew is setting up a temporary shop in the Western Transit Shed in King's Cross, London.

Featuring the brand's famous monogramming service, as well as a selection of special Spring/Summer pieces and a preview of the Fall collection, the pop-up shop is set to live up to its name and will be open for just 48 hours, from May 24 to 25.

Longer-lived London plans include a design project and scholarship program with the city's famed Central Saint Martins fashion school, alma mater to Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci among others.

On Wednesday the brand's creative director Jenna Lyons set the school's knitwear students a cashmere challenge, with the winning design picked for production and sold in J.Crew stores around the globe.

"Knitwear knowledge isn't as prevalent in the US. Here, it's a much bigger deal" Lyons told Vogue. "You guys love a knit," added the 44-year-old designer.

J.Crew will also be awarding a scholarship (covering course fees and accomodation for a year) to one lucky applicant to the Central Saint Martins fashion MA program.

Central Saint Martins's famed fashion professor, Louise Wilson, explained the link between brands and higher education programs: "without brands' support, we would be dead in the water. We met through their fortuitous imagination. This is about live learning," she added.

J.Crew will be opening a full flagship in November on Regent Street in the famous West End of the city.

The pop-up store definitely looks intriguing! It has a more high-end feel than I was expecting it to. I am so curious what the Regent Street store will end up looking like now. (Probably like a concept store than the one in my mall.)

Happy Memorial Day! {celebrating with J.Crew?}

Happy Memorial Weekend Everyone! 

I wish everyone a great Memorial Day (with great weather and safe travels). :)

Since a lot of us will be attending various outdoor parties, parades, and traveling to visit family and friends- I thought it would be fun to get ideas of what to wear today.

I plan on wearing the Ikat Halter Dress (Item 15197; $225.00) in blue. [This dress was released back in 2009. I initially was not a fan of the dress, but once I tried it on... well, I ended up with both colors. ;) ] This dress is great- simple to wear and looks more "dressed-up" than it actually is.

As many of you have noticed when flipping through the June catalog, J.Crew is really digging through their past archives... Why? Because a lot of older prints are resurfacing.

The latest roll-out includes the Ratti Regatta Short (item 68384; $98.00) which J.Crew shares: "Straight from the storied archives of Italy's Ratti print house (our go-to source for one-of-a-kind prints), this sunny sailboat motif first popped up in our summer '06 collection." I remember this print from 2006 (and I believe it was on a full shaped skirt.)

The Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a decent update this morning for Women (930+ items) and Men (360+). There are a number of older (somewhat random) pop-backs.

Sneak Peek: J.Crew's June 2013 Catalog

J.Crew posted on their Facebook page a sneak peek into their upcoming Style Guide. Otherwise known as the June 2013 catalog, it will feature Liya Kebede on location in Tanzania. 

J.Crew is known for their location catalogs and this upcoming one appears to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see what the rest of the pages have in store for us!

And of course, this just means that new arrivals are around the corner!

The Wait is Over: Shop CFDA/Vogue Collections {plus Bridal Sale}

J.Crew is offering customers early access (click here to shop) to purchase from the limited edition collection of the 2012 design winners of the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund. The designers include Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman, as well as Tabitha Simmons and Jennifer Meyer.

Plus, today is the start of J.Crew Factory's first "Weddings & Parties Private Sale". This event runs from May 20-21, 2013.

Customers can expect to see up to 75% off select bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses from past seasons. To shop this event, you must be a "Factory First" member. J.Crew will send out an email with a private link the the sale.
