J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tiffany Rose & JCrewGal (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here). The DECEMBER catalog (click here to view) is also available to view. 

Now onto the new arrivals...

J.Crew rolled out a lot of novelty sweaters this time around. The Vintage Holiday Sweater (item 09137; $98.00) caught my eye. I actually think this sweater is absolutely adorable. Just the perfect thing to wear this time of year.

I am intrigued by the Mini-bows sweatshirt (item 09240; $110.00). I can't tell if this top is totally adorbs with all the cute bows or if J.Crew just got carried away with a hot glue gun after a trip to a craft store. I have to see this one in person to make the final call.

So the Collection Cashmere Pajama Set (item 06635) is gorgeous. I can't imagine what it would feel like to slip these on a frosty night... and I never will. Why? Because J.Crew is seriously selling them for $1,200!!! I can't. Just can't.

Happy Thanksgiving Day! {celebrating w/ J.Crew}?

First and foremost... Happy Thanksgiving Day everyone! (I know it is a day early, but I am pretty sure we will all be super busy eating celebrating tomorrow.) It's the time of year where we can spend time with our loved ones and enjoy a fantastic meal. It also officially starts the Holiday season. :)

Per JCA tradition, this post is to find out what everyone is going to wear. I find it really interesting to see what other Aficionadas and Aficionados plan on wearing (and of course it gives me lots of wonderful ideas for future outfits). :) So for this post, what we are planning to wear on Thanksgiving Day? :)

J.Crew's Gift Ideas {do you buy the randoms?}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Irina, who shared the following news/email from J.Crew awhile back with us. J.Crew has released their Gift Idea list for this holiday season. They choose a variety of items they think will delight customers.

Per usual this time of year, J.Crew offers the random gift items that are not a part of their normal merchandise line. For example, the coffee cup and jewelry tray.

 

This got me wondering... do customers really buy these items? I mean, I do. But only after the holidays, when these items go on super sale. I normally would not even consider J.Crew's random gift items pre-Holiday, for gifts. Not because there is something wrong with them, but just because I don't even have them on my radar. When I think of J.Crew, I think clothing and such.

P.S. Is J.Crew still offering their "Gift Clubs" this year? I looked, but could not see any mention of it on the website. In the past, they would offer Jewelry (of the month), Shoes, and the like. Just curious what this year's version is (if there is one).

What are your thoughts on the randoms? Do you buy them pre-Holiday season for yourself or for others? Do you wait for them to go on sale (like me)?

This is an okay promotion. Not as good as the universal 25% off offers we have seen lately.

What kind of promotion do we expect to see post-Thanksgiving? I personally don't know. They usually were the worst- offering maybe a percentage off a category like sweaters. However, we have seen J.Crew pull out some amazing promotions in the past year, so they might really surprise us this time!

Random side note: Apologies for not keeping up with the blog too well. My household came down with a cold bug and its making the rounds. Ugh.

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The NOVEMBER catalog (click here to view) is now available to view. However, the latest DECEMBER catalog is not. (Check your mailbox as it is being sent via snail mail to customers!)

I am off to check out the new arrivals now! :)

J.Crew brought back the deeper discount online for the sale section. There is a crazy amount of merchandise available with over 1,880+ items for Women, and 640+ for Men- so hopefully things will get moving. Lots of pop-backs too.

However, I notice a lot of the items have not been further marked down. For example, the Linen Tippi Whale Sweater has been at the same price for a really long time. I was able to get the same deal as today, months ago.

US chain J Crew opens its first London store this week. To mark the occasion, creative director Jenna Lyons shares her top 10 style rules with us

1. Don't divide your wardrobe into smart and casual, but mix them up— "For example, if you have one of our flip-hem wool skirts, you can wear it smart and flirty with a blazer and shirt and jewels and a heel. But you can also wear it dressed down, with an oversized sweatshirt and New Balance trainers."

2. Trend is a dirty word to me"What I care about are changes in proportion.— When it feels like pants are getting skinnier, or waistbands are moving a little higher, that matters to me. But we're not about clothes you buy because they're on trend, we're about beautiful pieces you buy because you want to wear them every day."

3. Freshening up your look doesn't always have to be about buying something new—"We might have a sweater on sale for six months, and we'll shoot it in six different ways for the catalogue, which comes out monthly. It's a challenge, but that's where the fun is. We're all about suggesting new ways to wear the clothes you have."

4. Party dressing should never be head-to-toe shine and sparkle—"If you're wearing a jewelled top, then maybe wear it with a menswear trouser and a loafer. Things that play off each other, instead of matching up, create a fun mood."

5. Details matter—"I'm obsessed with our double-faced cashmere grey T-shirt, which has a lime green lining. That little glimpse is such a great surprise."

6. Mix colours in your jewellery, as well as your clothes—"Try a stack of bracelets on each wrist, and rings on both hands, in a mix of yellow and rose- gold."

7. Don't feel you have to wear a quirky look every day—"Sometimes you are in the mood for a white shirt – that's fine. You can totally default to a pair of black or navy pants. That's always allowed!"

8. A masculine element will make any outfit more chic—"Menswear is at the heart of everything we do at J Crew. Even if it's a very fancy, feminine piece, like a jewelled T-shirt, if you drill down you'll find a tailored shape at its root."

9. Don't ignore all those fabulous neon orange and moss-green pieces because you are not confident with colour—"Colour isn't easy for anyone. It's not easy for me! It's a challenge. It feels good to embrace a challenge."

10. You can't go wrong with cashmere—"A pair of cashmere socks might not be original, but it's always a great Christmas gift, because nobody buys themselves cashmere socks."

We're kind of at #6 right now.

HA! So true on both accounts!!! I love walking into J.Crew. There is something about the store that makes me linger and touch the merchandise.

With that said, I am going through a down period with J.Crew. I am not buying that much right now. I feel like I own everything I want, and there is not much left that I need. Even though the new arrivals look pretty, I am just not swooning over any pieces like I use to. I am sure that feeling will turn around in January! ;)
